City of Ashland - Emergency Medical Services Department Head

Salary: negotiable

 

The City of Ashland (pop. 3,086) is seeking applications from qualified individuals for the Emergency Medical Services Department Head position.  The ideal candidate is motivated, has excellent communication skills and works well with the public, City staff and governing body.    

 

The Emergency Medical Services Department Head will manage, plan and direct the overall operations and activities of the Emergency Medical Service department, reporting to the City Administrator.  The department head will be responsible for two part-time employees and approximately 25-30 volunteers.

 

A Paramedic License from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is preferred; and three (3) years of experience in management and command of EMS or Fire Rescue operations, or combination of related education and work experience in the EMS field.

Youth Services Library Assistant


The City of Ashland is now accepting applications for an enthusiastic Youth Services Library Assistant (18-20 hrs/week) with a strong commitment to public service, knowledge of technology, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Duties include:

  • Implementing programming for children
  • Assisting patrons with technology and information needs
  • Staffing the circulation desk
  • Shelving materials
  • Readers’ advisory
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Ability to be flexible and continuously learn, unlearn and relearn
  • High School Diploma or GED and one-year in library, childcare or customer service experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to effectively use the internet, email, social media and emerging technologies
  • A positive attitude and looks forward to working for a public library

Nebraska Library Level 1 Certification or willing and able to get certification

The ideal candidate will enjoy working with and assisting children and teens with their library needs, thinking up creative programs and events to keep children engaged and learning, and have experience with and enjoy learning new technology.

 

$15.00 per hour

Days/Hours will depend on programs Monday-Thursday. One or two Saturday per month from 10-3pm will be required.

Library Page


The City of Ashland is now accepting applications for a Library Page with a strong commitment to public service, knowledge of technology, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Duties include staffing the circulation desk, shelving materials, assisting patrons with technology and information needs, readers’ advisory, assisting with programs and other duties as assigned.

Typical work hours may include after school until 7 PM Monday through Thursday or Friday from 12 PM to 5 PM. Additionally, three Saturdays a month from 10 AM to 3 PM are required, totaling 12 hours per week.

 

Salary $13.75 per hour.

Qualifications, Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • At least 16 years old
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to learn the Dewey Decimal system and other library filing systems
  • Tech skills, computer literacy, and tablet knowledge preferred
  • Positive attitude toward learning new things
  • Attention to detail

Maintenance Position
 

The City of Ashland is accepting applications for a full-time maintenance position. 

The responsibilities of the positions will include general maintenance of City owned property, mowing and trimming the ball fields, parks and cemetery, and snow plowing.

The City provides a competitive benefits package and starts at $19.50/hr. 

Regular hours are Monday - Friday, 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. On-call rotation (typically once every 5 weeks) and occasional night/weekend hours in times of emergency or snow events.
